A Rampart 39, Kalbarri was built by the renowned Desty’s of Portsmouth in 1980 and was one of the last boats to built in wood by this yard. She spent her early days on the south coast around Dartmouth and then moved to Ipswich for a number of years before arriving on the Thames in 2012. By this time she had been configured more as a liveaboard boat for two people and had a double cabin forward, a bathroom midships and a large saloon aft. After almost 40 years since build and despite regular maintenance, an extensive refit was due and in 2018 David and Susie Morris bought her to bring her back to her former specification and layout. After a year in Michael Dennetts’ boatyard at Chertsey, she has been extensively reconfigured with 6 berths, two modern heads and a shower, new galley, rewiring and plumbing throughout, a heating system installed and bench seating fitted to the after deck as well as two new engines. She is now in fine shape to be used for chartering on the Thames and in due course to move further afield.
